Whiskey Jack

Blood channels down Jack's weathered face and into his matted beard. His vacant eyes mirror the flames that dance along the bedroom walls. The acrid smell of grenade fumes burn into his nostrils. The journey from California to Florida to find his loved ones has ended. Their voices ring in his ears. Jack Criley has murdered his wife and daughter. The Earth's population has transformed into savage mutations, but Jack doesn't care about what caused the apocalypse. Only closure mattered. This was not the ending he envisioned. Self doubt and hatred push him towards a new purpose: to kill as many of the creatures as possible before he dies. Yet, something Jack doesn't fully understand drives him onward. Something he fears as much as the uncertainty of suicide and no bottle can numb it.
