Systems Analysis: Practice of Making Informed Decisions

Too often managers are ill-equipped to make decisions involving long term consequences for their organization. Typically if we are confused with why something isn't working, we label it as a system. Often the reason we fail to recognize a “systems problem” is that we don’t even know how to look for it. At issue is we need leaders who have an aptitude for system analysis and can apply these techniques to highlighting systemic issues within their organization in a way that facilitates understanding them, discussing them, and solving them. What this book covers are some of the more common techniques used by Analysts for discovering and addressing problems within an organization. The outcome is not to make you an Analyst (which is not necessarily such a bad thing), but to develop manager's abilities to see problems in terms of systems thinking.
