Description

Confucianism in various interpretations has been a major part of Asian culture. Korea is said to be the most Confucian of all countries in its historical and retained cultural characteristics. In this book 100 of Confucius'(s) 400 sayings (Analects) have been selected as having the best potential for meaningful thought and discussion as applicable to our real lives, and incorporating all major themes that Confucius addressed. Questions are asked about each saying, and possible answers provided. The mode here is critical analysis, but not overly complicated, just at a level that most school students, and certainly adults, are quite capable of entering into and progressing in. Much is quite basic, even if not as common as it should be. All English words have Korean vocabulary given immediately underneath, and all English sentences (complete with their Korean vocabulary) have a grammatically correct Korean sentence provided underneath. An accompanying free website includes all material, and enables alterations of the book pages, such as removal of Korean or English to provide vocabulary, translation, paraphrasing, comprehension or other exercises. The book is also useful for those having English as a first language, and learning Korean as a second language.
