Westin Jamesson is just a “normal” twelve-year-old kid, until the day he finds out that magic is real, science is fiction, and magic and sorcery do exist outside of the “old world” (the Americas have thousands of years of history in magic and shamanism). These talents seem to turn on him though, getting him stuck in the middle of a battle to overthrow the government and take back the magic from those who are non-magical. Westin vows to protect that magic at all costs … but it may actually cost more than he thought! As you enjoy this wizardly mystery, notice how each chapter lays out clues that allow you to solve the book’s mystery, and the clues throughout the book will help you solve the greater mystery of the whole series: Who is the seven-headed monster that is trying to enslave the magical and non-magical people? Just for fun, names have specific meaning and many characters are tied to mythology in some way.
