Description

This book affirms the time-tested wisdom within indigenous cultures and attempts to invert the power relationships indigenous and grassroots communities have regarding emergent technology, particularly nanotechnology and health. For the last five hundred years, these communities have been subjected to various atrocities, ranging from genocide, slavery, medical experimentation, ecocide, racism, and cultural, political, and economic oppression, often aided and assisted with the ‘latest technology of the day.’ The main purpose is to stimulate dialogue amongst indigenous and grassroots communities to empower themselves to address these issues on the front end, rather than wait until there is an accident or catastrophe. I further hope to inspire the youth of both groups to study these fields of science and technology themselves in order to steer the dialogue toward humanitarian and environmentally sustainable objectives.
