Or too, if unseparated, she will receive a share of the wealth so long as she lives." (Stokes1 Hindu Law Books, page 85). This Shloka has an indirect important bearing on the present question. (2) Mitakshara Vyavaharadhyaya, folio 12, page 1, line 4, does refer to the subject of inheritance, and need not therefore be noticed here. (2) Mitakshara Vyavaharadhyaya, folio 55, page 2, line 1. (3) Vyavahara Mayukha, page 134, line 6. (4) Vyavahara Mayukha, page 136, line 7. (5) Vyavahara Mayukha, page 136, line 4. (6) Mitakshara Vyavaharadhyaya, folio 51, page 2, line 5. (7) Manu, IX., 217. (8) Vyavahara Mayukha, page 95, line 5. ' (9) Viramitrodaya, folio 194, page 2, line 4, Authorities (1), (2), (5) have been already quoted above. Mr. Mandlik translates the passage thus:--" If her husband have departed for heaven, Stri (the wife) obtains food and raiment: on the othei hand, if unseparated, she will receive a share of the wealth go long as she lives." This translation does not seem to be correct, for, from what follows in the Mayukha, it appears that, according to that author, the widow of an unseparated male will receive, according to the text, at the pleasure of the elders in the family, a fixed share, if she be dutiful to the...
