District No. 1.--Maine above 500 feet elevation; New Hampshire, Vermont, and New York north of latitude 44; Ontario north of Luke Simcoe and east of longitude 80; Quebec, New Brunswick, and Prince Edwards Island. The dominant natural feature of this district is the St. Lawrence Valley. Many of the hardier fruits flourish within its borders. District l'o. 2.--Nova Scotia; Maine below 500 feet elevation; New Hampshire and Vermont south of latitude 44; Massachusetts; lthode Island; Connecticut; New York south of latitude 44, except Long Island; northern New Jersey above 500 feet elevation; Pennsylvania east of the Susquehanna River and above 500 feet elevation, north of latitude 41 west to the Allegheny River, and all of that portion of the State lying north of the Ohio River; Ohio and Indiana north of latitude 40; and the lower peninsula of Michigan. The Annapolis Valley of Nova Scotia, the North Atlantic coast, the lake region of western New York, Ohio, and Michigan, and the Hudson River Valley are the leading features of District No. 2. This may be considered the northern grape, peach, and winter apple district. District No..5'.--Long Island; New Jersey, except a small portion north; eastern Pennsylvania below 500 feet elevation; Delaware; and Maryland and Virginia below 500 feet elevation. This is the Delaware and Chesapeake Bay district. Though a small district, its productive capacity is great of the fruits that succeed within its borders.
