Direct-Contact Condensers for Open-Cycle OTEC Applications: Model Validation with Fresh Water Experiments for Structured Packings

The objective of the reported work was to develop analytical methods for evaluating the design and performance of advanced, high-performance heat exchangers for use in open-cycle ocean thermal energy conversion (OC-OTEC) systems. This report describes; the progress made on validating a one-dimensional, steady-state analytical computer model of direct-contact condenser using structured packings based on extensive sets; of fresh water experiments.
