Secondly, there is the difficulty of forming an opinion as to Why it stands in that form; whether it arises from the native's uninterrupted Observations of Nature, modified by his peculiar form of intellect; or Whether it is a white idea primarily, but in a state modified by having passed through a generation or SO of African minds.
