New York Family Law

This text is a New York State-specific Family Law textbook written for undergraduate legal students and paralegal education students. The only text of its kind available, this unique resource covers both matrimonial law (annulment; separation; divorce; and equitable distribution of marital property), and Family Court proceedings, such as family offenses, child protection, termination of parental rights, and adoption. While the text is designed to focus on the laws of New York State, issues of current nationwide debate, such as same-sex marriage, are presented in their national context, and federal legislation is discussed. The text offers a wealth of pedagogic strategies that bring the law to life. These strategies include thought-provoking discussion topics; "Basics Boxes", which introduce each type of Family Law litigation; Practice Tips; Chapter Review Questions; and Chapter Assignments with varying degrees of difficulty. New York forms are integrated throughout the text for student use. The text also offers expanded coverage of divorce with additional forms and cases and a new section on interviewing skills.
