Frankie is nervous before walking to school. Her sister is supposed to walk with her, but lately she has been running ahead to be with her friends. As soon as the girls are out of their mother's sight, Patty leaves Frankie alone. Moments later, a car pulls up beside her. An old man offers Frankie her favorite chocolate bar. Frankie thinks about it, but decides not to go near the car since the man is a stranger. As she continues to school, Frankie is knocked down by a puppy. A woman stands in the doorway of her home and tells Frankie she can come in and play with the puppy. Frankie recognizes the woman from the neighborhood, but remembers she must have permission from her mother to enter anyone's home. Frankie continues to school and bumps into a man wearing a uniform. The man tells her that he can take her to school. However, when she asks him her family code word, he doesn't know it. Frankie runs away so wildly she bumps into a tree! A young boy asks her if she's okay. He then urges her to sit with him. The boy tells her to keep it a secret. Frankie runs away saying she doesn't keep secrets from her mommy. She also realizes she must tell her mommy that Patty doesn't walk with her, since it isn't tattling if it involves her safety.
