Description

Lives Shattered by Mystery...

When a terrible automobile accident kills their parents, Mary and Emily are burdened with sudden and almost unbearable grief. Mary, a successful writer, finds herself ill and unable to work. Emily suffers from sleeplessness and becomes irrationally convinced that her husband, Ray, is cheating on her. But Ray, a police officer, is uncovering secrets that Mary and Emily could never have imagined. He finds an error on his wife's birth certificate, and as one question leads to another, Mary and Emily discover that their seemingly stable parents and childhood were only one facet of the truth. As they question the reality of their relationship to one another and to their parents, a murder sends them running to an unexpected place that begins to give them answers to the painful mysteries surrounding them. As the intrigue builds, gradually involving the police and even the FBI, Mary and Emily must face and deal with new discoveries that open their lives and wound their hearts. Emily says she doesn't want to know any more...but deep down, she and Mary are compelled to understand themselves and their family, whatever the cost. Changes is a richly characterized and compelling examination of identity destroyed and rebuilt, and the resilience of the human spirit.
