I am challenging Americans of all races, especially students who are failing in America's schools. I hope my life and the way I achieved success through adverse conditions will be motivational to Americans. I give honor to my parents and my teachers, who taught me never to give up.
I picked cotton in Mississippi, did not wear fancy clothing, shined shoes, saved my money in cans, and did not receive free food or welfare. My parents were not rich. They taught me I did not have to be rich to get an education. I hope students can learn from The Roads I Traveled.
