A Wood Stork Grows Up

A Wood Stork Grows Up is a photo documentary of wood stork chicks growing up in the South Carolina Lowcountry. There are 184 pictures taken at 2-week intervals from nest building through fledging. True stories of Woodrow and other chicks are interspersed with general information about wood storks. There is flying and fishing; prancing and preening; feeding and flapping; tranquility and turmoil; and even dancing and a disaster. In all things, the affectionate nature and resourcefulness of the wood storks form the framework of their lives. This is a love story: love between siblings, love between mates, and most importantly love between parents and chicks. It is also a survival story, especially for one family which triumphs over disaster.
