The present volume deals with the general theory of electrochemistry. This is divided into two parts, one giving the relation between quantity of electricity and quantity of chemical action; the other and more recent.part faams the pendant to the first by giving the relation between electromotive force and intensity of chemical action. These subjects are dealt with inC hapters I. and III. Chapter 11. is in the nature of an appendix to the first chapter, and may be omitted by those who are not interested in pure chemistry, without detriment to the continuity of the book.
