SHEDS A..,D TELEPnONE POLES The signs of direction may be divided into two genera.l families ~ the first is composed of painted sign-posts and chalkmarks used in the more settled parts or the community and the second is made up 01 what might be termed the wilderness signs oE direction. In this second family are included trappers, ~ voyagers,' Indians' and gypsy signs made of tlle material found in the wnderness, the trails or the road. Everyone should be familiar enough with these signs to read and use them intelligently.
