Nuevo Laredo: A Prelude To War follows NYC reporter Doug McKenzie whose current assignment is a double murder. Leading him into Northern Mexico and to a violence ridden drug trade that is ending. Principally payoffs from the transshipment and protection of illegal drugs north into the United States. It is being replaced by more benign payoffs made by corporations seeking access to cheap, unregulated labor markets. Elimination of the drug trade will be through a modification of the banking laws of Mexico. Essentially a buyout of the six major drug organizations. The U.S. DEA will overreact, sending in agents to Monterrey, Mexico to bring back the drug lords assembled there for the purpose of disbanding. An equally if not more violent response from Mexico and the helicopter transports will not make it back to home base...
