Captain Drake boards The civilian deep space research vessel The Mary in hopes of forgetting the happenings of his last military assignment, but soon discovers the missions and crew aboard his new ship are nothing ordinary and soon finds himself having to acknowledge the very real possibility of being sent on a mission none of them are expected to survive.
