On the Beautiful Sea (2008) is Fullmer's first collection of linked short stories, offering a fragmented glimpse at a protagonist identified variously as John, Johnny, and J.B. Moving in reverse chronological order, each subsequent story reveals something more of the preceding ones. The stories were written over a period of three years.
