Benthos

In 1992, the United States has nearly completed the clandestine construction of a seabed missile facility known as BENTHOS PURPLE.  They are not aware, but the Soviet Navy has determined the location and is racing toward the site off the southern coast of Iran.
Meanwhile, inside the complex, Deborah Compton, a scientist from the Advanced Research Projects Agency, is checking the operation of her newest neurocomputer.  Networked with several expert programs running on dedicated artificial intelligence computers, Benthos is far more than merely intelligent software.  Like its creator, Benthos is idealistic, enjoys research, and has tremendous potential for intellectual growth.
