Beyond Id: A Mythic Tale

Brian Mudd has awakened from the prison of his ego and glimpsed the dimensions beyond the realm of ordinary reality. Though his body remains chained to the material world he’s developed the ability to soar in the astral realms. He believes he’s found the door of emancipation from the wheel of birth and death. But non-ordinary reality is not everything he envisioned it to be. While journeying the astral he encounters a terrifying entity named Max who claims to be Brian’s Overself. Brian is awed to the point of veneration by Max and asks to become his apprentice. For a while Brian’s life changes and he revels in the glory of the monetary reward Max provides for him. But the duties Max demands of Brian begin to take their toll. One of Brian’s tasks is to drug young women and bring them to Max. Brian fears he’s become a serial killer who blames the abductions on the power of a fantasy figure he’s created in his mind. Brian struggles to find a way to renounce his apprenticeship but Max will not allow it. Max commands Brian to abduct Karen Frost but while completing his assignment Brian falls in love with her. A great metaphysical debate ensues as Brian tries to reason with Max about why he cannot complete his mission. But Max is a force to powerful to defy and Brian struggles to find a way to rescue Karen from the sub-conscious will of his Overself.
