Description

Naïve yet idealistic college graduate TABATHA DEARSTONE joins a government program as a welfare worker, and then plunges her car off an icy road into a freezing river in the mountains of Western North Carolina. She finds herself living a year-long nightmare-her "rescuer," handsome young mountain man RALLY FOX, is a sadistic, murderous moonshiner who rapes her and forces her into marriage. Tabatha's "citified" ways earn her the name "City" from the mountain clan as she discovers that the tables are turned. It is City who must learn the mountain way of life if she is to survive. City's life is in even greater jeopardy as she dares to defy Rally to protect her only ally, an eight-year-old orphan whose life is more precious than her own.
