Description ▲
Convocation: A Novel in Two Parts is a triumph of synthesis. The text begins as a transcript of artistic turbulence. whose narrative depicts a passive hero whose passions have completely overtaken him. The story of those passions manages to become an uninterrupted, dizzying barrage of bizarre conflicts and futile resolutions amid a maddening rush of non sequiturs and clichés. Inspired by Samuel Beckett's later work Sans (Nothingness), the text achieves an exposition of human consciousness. The word convocation is taken from the Latin to mean a "calling together" and the chief aim of the second part is to bring together those disparate elements of the consciousness which simultaneously confront, evade, distort, invent and ultimately commune with experience. This surpassing work continues the story of a mysterious protagonist whose life and times have completely forgotten him. The author himself joins an unexpected panel of conversationalists from history, fiction and his own Gonzo literature in a work of dialogue whose topics range from the ephemeral to the sublime.
