Description

University politics - it's not what you'd think! Anyone who has worked at a university will find it hard to resist a murder mystery that kills off a vice president. However, the victim, Harold Grimm, turns out to be the nice guy in the story. Nothing of the kind can be said for the trio of prime suspects, all university administrators themselves. These are the people you love to hate and it would be nice if all three of them could end up on death row. In addition to being an embezzler and a conspirator, the murderer is also a fanatic follower of his perennially last place major league baseball team (every home game for fourteen seasons and he still hasn't caught a ball hit into the stands - wait 'til next time), so much so that he signs himself True Fan in the taunts he sends to the investigating officer in the case, Alec McEwen. More than one old score is settled in the end as McEwen returns to the unsolved case upon his early retirement from the force, taking the reader back into the university culture and politics of the Vietnam era. If you were there, or if you weren't but were always curious, it is a must read.
