Have You Had Enough Yet?: My Story About Domestic Abuse in a Christian Marriage

"Most abused women barely escape with their lives, but what about those who barely escape with their sanity. Living in constant fear is like living in a mine field. Psychological and emotional abuse is rarely talked about, but leaves scars that are deeper than broken bones. It destroys the woman's spirit and soul, especially when the abuser claims to be a Christian. During my abuse I lost my identity and became exactly what my abuser wanted me to be, weak, so I could be easily controlled. I escaped several times only to return, holding onto false hope that he had really changed. After the final good-bye, I still wanted to return. I told God, "He just said he was going to kill me, he didn't do it," God said, "I protected you. If you go back again he'll kill you and I can't stop him." I didn't question God anymore."
