The Word: John and The Targums

When the Apostle John wrote "In the beginning was the Word," did he write something familiar to his audience, or did he write something totally new? This book compares his words to the teachings of the Jewish Sages through the Targum of Onkelos, the Targum of Jonathan ben Uzziel, and the Targum Jerusalem. Did John simply connect what was known about the Word in Judaism to Yeshua?
