When marauding gang members snatch Karen Flannigan off the streets of LA during the Rodney King riots, the police are too distracted by wholesale chaos to respond. Her fiancé, Max Singer, decides to stage his own daring rescue. Max, a twenty-nine year old hedge fund manager and black belt in the ancient Korean martial art of Tae Kwon Do, pursues Karen through the anarchy of a burning city at war with itself. He enlists the aid of his fellow martial artists, including his best friend, in his desperate quest.
