The Secret Society of TS Black & TG White is a novella that starts off in San Francisco then goes to the nightclubs in Oakland, Washington D.C., and Canada. Jay Anthony King, Jr. is the main character in this story. He is a teenager who has been secretly trying to live as a woman for the past two years. And he recently started hormone therapy but unfortunately he is still "in-the-closet" about his gender transition and his HIV+ status. These two secrets along with not quite fitting in as a light skinned black man and constantly hearing anti-queer rhetoric at home compel Jay to embark on a perilous journey of self-discovery that is filled with action and excitement. Sometimes it is very serious, tragic, comic, and erotic, which gives the reader a lot of insight into an African American subculture that is rarely acknowledged or known about in mainstream society. Jay is a 'party-animal' and is spreading the virus indiscriminately throughout the community. While experiencing love, hate, rape, murder, gay-bashing, gender issues, racism, shame, rejection, and guilt, The Secret Society of TS Black & TG White is also very exciting, passionate, entertaining, thought-provoking, and fun!
