Capitalism, the Colonization of America,: and The Mating Behavior of the Praying Mantis

America has been struggling to come out of a crisis of confidence in our financial system. The country has not become poor, but its government is paralyzed, people have lost their jobs, houses, and their faith in themselves and their elected officials. They have seen their health insurance recede out of reach, or have lost it all together. The country's infrastructure, education, environment, and its bicameral, two party system of democracy have deteriorated, as if it has been made a colony by some invaders. It is being subjected to exploitation by the invisible and ill defined conquistadors on its own soil. These victors are collecting their trophies, without even acknowledging any responsibility towards their subjugated brethren. America has become a colony again. Capitalism has turned upon the very people it was supposed to benefit and has encouraged a small segment of the populace to cannibalize the rest, resembling the mating ritual of the praying mantis. Dr. Shah calls up on his medical skills to diagnose this complex financial morass that has baffled the greatest brains of our time. He believes that defining the problem clearly in itself may guide us towards its solution, preferably a nonviolent one, since we have contacted the enemy, and it is us!
