Description

This is the continuation of Breaking the Gates of Hell: Book 1. This is a rare edition of a Bao Hua Mountain Abbot, Elder Ven Ji Xian who completed his edit in the 17th c. CE of the Avagoshavajra and Siksananda translations. This is a bilingual Chinese English translation by Ven. Hong Yang a Bhikshuni in Mahayana Chinese Buddhism, she wrote it in large print including the original text and added hanyu pinyin. This section calls upon the dead to attend the dharma function and listen, choosing or not to take Refuge in the Triple Jewels, accept the food offerings and wishing to attain rebirth in the next life as a human to encounter Buddha dharma. Many people bring their loved ones who are not conscious, suffering from confusion, ill in body or mind and their adult family to listen to this service and participate in the bowing, kneeling and reciting supporting this service. It goes from morning to late night for 7 days. At the end there is often blessed water or herbal teas and/or soft steamed buns to eat to carry you on your way home. If you have a chance please participate. These are the common teachings of Buddhism that encourage the Buddhist laity to cultivate, donate and have compassion in their lives.
