Identifying Adolescent Depression

As many as one in five adolescents experience symptoms of depression at some point in their lives. This research focused on identifying the factors which contribute to adolescent depression, how depression affects adolescents, what school counselors do to identify it, and the different kinds of interventions they can use to treat depressed adolescents. A survey was used to collect data from school faculty members and other personnel. The results of the research indicated that the majority of the school personnel understand the significance of adolescent depression. They are able to recognize the signs and symptoms, the causes and consequences, and the ways to treat adolescent depression.
