Waking Up in Africa

The true story of a man who, after years of trying to live as simply and drama-free as possible, suddenly found himself spending two weeks working among the poverty-stricken population in the slums of Kampala, Uganda. In this funny and sometimes touching story, the author describes his own process of "waking up" and deciding to become involved again in serving the needs of others. Mixed with the author's personal story is the story of Loving One By One, an organization providing an orphanage, a school and medical relief in the poorest areas of Kampala. Sometimes simple actions, under the right circumstances, can literally keep hundreds of people alive, and affect a generation. This story is one such example.
