Toward Home: A Sextet for Guitar, Marimba, Violin, Cello, Bass, and Piano

Toward Home is a sextet for guitar, marimba, violin, cello, bass, and piano. Its three, dynamic movements evoke the winding mountain roads of the Rockies, the expansiveness of the Midwestern Plains, and the quiet, verdant mysteries of seaside towns along the northern California coast. The music is drawn from folk-influenced themes, whose lyricism, warmth, and vitality wend their way through the score and are transformed as part of a musical travelogue.

• Movement 1 is a chamber concerto in which the guitar plays a prominent role.
• Movement 2 is features highly melodic writing for the violin and piano.
• Movement 3 is a wild dance finale for the ensemble.
