Rhys Edwards and friend Jack are on an extended visit to the States and fortuitously enough, end up guests of the Stewarts while they conduct business that remains as vague as specifics about their fast-paced, cosmopolitan lives in England- and all over the world, it seems. There Rhys meets Meg McAlister, Rene Stewart’s pretty best friend, who seems just as elusive about why she’s always on the run and working all hours by turn. So no one asks many questions over the leisurely dinners and lively outings- Except Danielle, ever condescending toward Meg and consummately self-interested, especially where unusually handsome Rhys is concerned. But ‘looks’ are deceiving, and Rhys proves more perceptive, also deeper, than most people give him credit for- is looking for something deeper as well… And something about Meg, appealing and sharp as well as attractive, is very, disturbingly drawing. By the time they all meet again in Europe some remarkable revelations are unraveled, though a dangerous incident prompts an unscheduled detour to Rhys’ home- One might think a promising chance to reach beyond what seems sensible, or comfortable, if they are to realize something meaningful and enduring…
