A Soldier's Dream

William Rodriguez is a sixteen year old farm boy living in rural Indiana. It is the twenty-third century, and America is an agrarian society ruled by a mysterious clan of religious figures called the Bishops. William and everyone else in the country are taught by the Bishops that an angry god has punished humans for being lazy and relying too much on machines, thus any form of technology is strictly forbidden. William is introduced to a secret society known as the Resistance, an underground militaristic group formed by the scattered remnants of the US military. Through the Resistance William learns that his entire world has been a lie. In the 21st century the United States was completely destroyed during World War Three and has been held in slavery through a false religion ever since. The rest of the world moved into the 23rd century, but even those countries are dominated and closely watched by the same evil empire that enslaved the United States so many years ago. William joins the Resistance and discovers a wonderful new world of advanced technology. He sets off on his first clandestine mission that, while simple in theory, ends up being the fight of a lifetime. Realizing that he is uniquely suited to take advantage of this newly found technology, he targets the heart of the empire in an attempt to save the people he loves and the Resistance itself.
