Desperate Deception

Marnie Clayton, the daughter of a wealthy plantation owner, must turn her plantation into an orphanage and disguise herself as a nun, Sister Mary Francis, to protect herself and her twin nieces. Her aunt, Anna Taylor and the man she lives with, Calvin Hogue, are determined to dispose of her and the twins if they learn of their existence and take over her plantation, Twin Oaks. In the course of hiding herself and the truth, she is also deceiving Captain Michael Brent, the twin's paternal uncle. He is unaware of their existence. He has come to New Orleans to bring dispatches to the Union army and to locate the man who murdered his brother, Matthew, and solve the mystery of his sister-in-law's disappearance. Michael enlists the aid of Orin Taylor, a mysterious friend of his late brother. But at times, he is at odds with the friendly relationship that Orin and Sister Mary Francis have.
