Description

Georgia Canterwood lives in a world where the government, also known as the Abductors, enforces Abduction Day every six months. During Abduction Day, the government can take anyone between the ages of two and twenty-one, with special restrictions. No one knows why they take them, or where. When Georgia is sixteen, her dad, who works for the government as a cop, offers her a job to get Abducted as a spy and to get all of the questions answered. Hoping to protect her nine-year-old brother and almost two-year-old sister, she accepts. She decides to go in to save her best friend, Alex, who was Abducted when he was six, and to possibly end Abduction Day through her mission. What she finds out is more terrifying than she ever could have imagined. I peered out my window to see the white van drive by. I couldn't see the masked Abductors through the tinted windows of the van, but I knew enough that I didn't need to see what was going on in the back. I didn't need to see. Children and young adults would be chained to the wooden seats in the back of the white car, which was a symbol of nothing better than a dark fate, their names and ages projected on a screen above them, as the Abductors decide their destiny.
