Description ▲
It is Itzy's first day of summer vacation. She is thirteen and lives at home with her mother who works as a registered nurse and her father who is a postal worker. She has twin teenage brothers, Harry and Andrew. An elderly couple who lives in Itzy's neighborhood hires her to clean house for them during the summer. She is excited about earning money doing light housework, but quickly concludes that the old man is being targeted by an investment scheme. Nearly every day, Itzy observes him wrap twenty-dollar bills into aluminum foil and slide the foil package into a manila envelope addressed to a local post office box. While her best friend Sara is away at summer camp, Itzy becomes friends with Danny, a thirteen-year-old classmate. Itzy confides in Danny about her suspicions that the old man is a victim of an investment fraud. Together, they become teenage sleuths determined to foil the fraud and to protect older people from being cheated out of their retirement funds. As the mystery of the foiled money scam unfolds, Itzy and Danny unravel the crime and reveal the culprits. With the assistance of local police and the FBI, Itzy and Danny are instrumental in helping to send the scam artists to prison for a long time. They revel in the spotlight of national media attention, but they are mainly happy about protecting more retired people from being victimized.
