Moses Tapped the Washing Pond: A History of Wannacomet Water Company

Wannacomet Water Company of Nantucket was incorporated in 1880. The concept of bringing pure water via pipes to the Town of Nantucket was the brain child of Moses Joy, Jr. The company continued under the management of a group of long-lived Nantucketers until sale of off-island management and eventual purchase by the Town of Nantucket.
