This story doesn’t start with a daring bank robbery in broad daylight, or a chain of unsolved serial killings. It doesn’t involve a high speed chase across Italy in a stolen yellow Ferrari, and there’s definitely not enough of a budget for a steamy sex scene involving Brad Pitt and Jennifer Lawrence. In truth, this story begins with a brown fabric lounge covered in cigarette burns and coffee stains. There are two chronic schizophrenics sitting on it, and I am one of them. SHELTERED is a black comedy that takes you through the world of prisoners found Not Guilty by reason of Mental Illness. It’s a tale of maximum security jails, locked psych wards and sheltered workshops.
