The Shadow: In this first part of the trilogy "In the Shadow of the Dragon", Wang Jun, a Beijing policeman and Cao Yu a student are caught in a conspiracy led by the Beijing police to track down the dissidents still active after the Tiananmen Square massacre. Their life is suddenly destroyed by ruthless agents. A strange play happens between Wang Jun and Mona, a Franco-Chinese whose cynicism is matched only by her beauty. Tang Gang, a Tiananmen cleaner shows his human face helping his girlfriend, a nurse, to solve social problems. Between love and hate Erwan and Cécile, a couple of European expatriates, try to survive in the post-Mao China. Other characters like Cosmos a rock singer, survive haphazardly.
