Description ▲
James Alexander Forbes, born of Scottish and Spanish parents, landed on the shores of Yerba Buena, now called San Francisco, in 1831 at the age of 26. He soon married Maria Anita Galindo, the granddaughter of Nicolas Galindo, who came with Juan Bautista de Anza in 1775 to establish a Mexican outpost in Alta California. James and Maria had twelve children while they lived in the Santa Clara area, fifty miles south of San Francisco. This 720-page book is a genealogy book describing the families of those twelve children and their descendants for four generations. Ancestral trees are included for many of the spouses of the Forbes descendants. Source information is provided for the data contained in the book along with complete listings through the 1940 United States Census. There are over 230 images plus numerous cemetery marker photos. An extensive bibliography is provided at the end of the book.
