The story follows Charlie Bodenheimer, an ambitious young man from the Midwest who finds himself struggling to understand war and the people it involves as an intelligence contractor in Vietnam-era Southeast Asia. Through Charlie, the reader is confronted with the realities of war and made to wonder about the complexities of morality. Who’s right? Who’s wrong? And who gets to decide?
