Fear Itself

This fictional story parallels the Boston Marathon bombing with an international thread. Reads like a possible real scenario in the United States’ efforts to defend itself from modern day terrorists. Set eleven years after 9/11, a vindictive foreign terrorist employs an innovative strategy to reach his longtime goal of striking fear into the hearts of those living in the United States. With the cooperation of an ex-U.S. army demolitions expert, the terrorist embarks on a spree of bombing episodes across Mid-Atlantic America. Every three days a different American institution is targeted. The bomber is very good at what he does. After each successful bombing, people increasingly begin to fear going out into public places. How do you stop a U.S. citizen who just walks into buildings looking like anybody else and then blows them up? This is the near impossible assignment given to Gino DiCarlo of Homeland Security. The clever agent has all he can handle in matching wits with the bomber.
