Polypropylene (PP) is a thermoplastic polymer with exceptional properties, which have made it one of the most widely used polymers, second only to polyethylene in terms of global demand. The technical aspects of a process to produce homopolymer PP similar to the Dow UNIPOL technology are reviewed. The analysis also includes a comparison between a stand-alone PP plant and a similar plant integrated with a petrochemical complex that provides propylene feedstock at a transfer price, below market average.
