The combined capabilities and performance of U.S. weapons systems are unmatched throughout the world, ensuring that U.S. military forces have the advantage over any adversary. The Fiscal Year (FY) 2014 acquisition funding request for the Department of Defense (DoD) totals $167.6 billion, of which $99.3 billion is for Procurement-funded, and $67.6 billion is for Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E)-funded programs. Of this amount, $69.4 billion is for programs that have been designated as Major Defense Acquisition Programs (MDAP). This book focuses on the key MDAP programs.
