Chains Around My Soul: Between Shadows & Light, is a short compilation of the original poetry of VL Parker. It is gathered from some of her work throughout her life and reflects the dichotomy that she faced between dark emotions and the love that ultimately healed her. Writing poetry enabled V L to utilize imagery and symbolism to express secret pain that she was either too young or unwilling to address openly. Rather than keep a diary growing up, Parker wrote poetry to battle dark and foreboding thoughts that would have surely consumed her had she not had this outlet. This compilation is reflection of her struggle.
