Love is a Foreign Language

Love is a Foreign Language is adult fiction that mixes different narrative layers to question “L”, as a language or a tool to articulate life from different points of view. The dramatic arch is laid out through the eyes of Javier, a character from somewhere in Latin America, who lives in Toronto. Narrated as a collection of movies, or stories, the mind as a repository of recollections and memories, the individual story of Javier is interwoven with our own. “L” is by definition an undefined pulse, an individual language without proper grammar. Through his words, we learn how to interpret the meanings of “L” by learning about his relationship to Max, a junky; his therapist Dr. Mabuse; God, a voice within; and his family, a tortuous collection of imaginary beings to populate a troubled existence.
