THE MOST CURIOUS… CASE OF THE RUNAWAY SPOON - Synopsis Amelia had found many letters tucked behind the little green door fixed to the skirting board in her bedroom. ‘WE MUST SPEAK NOW!’ What could it mean? The other letters from Paola, the so-called ‘pinkest fairy’, had always been about something: ballet exams, school, or wobbly-wibbling teeth. This note was so curious… Amelia has been summoned to Fursairylünd; she is told that the magical childhood worlds of Fairyland and the Land of Nursery Rhymes have been forced to merge due to a lack of interest in such things. Amelia has been nominated by Paola (who turns out to be a very Punky-funky-fairy and not at all like Amelia had ever imagined her) to help solve the Case of the Runaway Spoon… The Under-Secretary-to-the-Deputy-Fairy-Queen’s-Assistant-Lady-in-Waiting tells Amelia that she is distantly related to one of England’s finest police detectives and the Fairy Queen is expecting her to bring about a swift resolution to the matter. Paola explains that Fursairylünd has all gone all ‘topsy’ because the Spoon has run away and the Dish is un-missing. On her adventure, Amelia gets to meet a whole host of fantastical nursery rhyme and fairyfolk characters: the Dish, who is woebegone and bedridden as a result of his ‘loss’; Mother Hubbard or the Old Woman (Who Lived in a Shoe) who bustles her busy way throughout the story; the miserable Little Dog, who has not laughed for a fortnight; the Cow, who hasn’t jumped for nearly two weeks now because the Moon has disappeared from the night sky; and the Cat, who plays the electric guitar at the Eve of the Grand Annual Fursairylünd Steeplechase Barn Dance. Then there are the elves, pixies, the Punky-funky-fairies, and the Grewnies: a cross between Leprechauns and Brownies who are full of mischief. But the most curious figure of all is that of Diddle Dumpling, who is – so Amelia is informed - none other than the nephew of the great Humpty Dumpty. Amelia travels through Fursairylünd on Moonstone (who has turned into a real-life pony) writing clues in her notebook, but she cannot make any sense of what the Fursairylünd characters tell her. What does the phrase: Mind You Remember Dorothy mean? What was the smell akin to bacon that was left behind after Diddle Dumpling had disappeared from the scene the last time the Dish saw the Spoon?
