The afternoon of her funeral, Young runs away from everyone and everything that remind him of his wife. Dying at the age of twenty-eight, she abruptly left him alone in a life of aggravation and melodrama. Wanting to deal with her death on his own terms, he takes off for the coast of North Carolina. When he arrives, however, he realizes fate has other things in mind.

Along the way, a league of unsavory characters, mean-spirited nature and hard-won maturity pepper his journey with color and lasting relationships.
